Life Hack Of The Day: Phone Edition
If you’re worried about how you’re going to keep your phone protected at the beach or pool, try this handy hack. Place the phone (or other devices) in a zip-top baggie; the bag will protect it from sand and the occasional splash, but you’ll still be able to use it without taking it out of the bag.
You already know that consuming lemon ups your vitamin C intake, but it can also help your digestive system run smoothly. Lemons can improve your ability to completely break down the foods you’re consuming so you can reap the nutritional benefits they have to offer. You’ll end up extracting all of those great vitamins and minerals from produce and taking in all of the essential amino acids you can derive from high-protein food sources. [Swirled]
Career + Finance + Tech
You’re familiar with Google Earth and the Earth Engine Tool, but have you checked out Google Tour Builder? Tour Builder is a new way to highlight and share the adventures and experiences that you came across in your travels. The tool allows people to not only document where they’ve been with their friends and family, but also allows them to include in photos, videos, text or any other media to explain what they saw, tasted, heard, smelled and witnessed in that exact location. S’more: Use S’more and you will get paid! S’more is a lock screen rewards app that allows you to earn points in exchange for them placing ads and content on your lock screen.
Food + Drink
If you’ve been spending the past few days relaxing somewhere on a beach (and who could blame you) you may have missed the best news of the summer. Subway is testing out hand-spun Halo Top milkshakes. If you’re in one of the select cities stop by your local Subway from July 22 through September 4 to try one of three flavors — vanilla bean, chocolate or strawberry. Each 16-ounce milkshake will have 350 calories or less. We’re bummed they won’t be available in NYC, but fingers-crossed they expand! [The Daily Meal]
Recipe Of The Day: Making herbed salt is super easy and it’s a great way not only to add some spice to your dishes but also put all your fresh herbs to use and (bonus) you won’t get any fillers or unnecessary ingredients that come from a store-bought blend. For an aromatic garlic sage salt blend together dried parsley, sage, garlic powder and sea salt into a blender until evenly mixed. Store in a glass container and season away. [Food Heaven Made Easy]
A quick tip from yours truly: Experiment with other blends like rosemary and black pepper or smoked paprika and cayenne. They also make great homemade gifts.
