You Need These 3-Ingredient Crostini Ideas In Your Life
A quick crostini recipe will always come in clutch. Whether it’s a simple lunch for yourself or a last-minute appetizer to offer your party guests, you should keep a few sweet and savory three-ingredient toast recipes in the back of your mind at all times. Here’s some crostini inspiration for when you need it most.
Mascarpone, Tomato & Mint
Marscapone is a creamy Italian cheese that’ll work in pretty much any recipe. The texture is smooth with a sweet, rich and buttery flavor. It’s in the realm of crème fraîche or English clotted cream. Think of it as a smoother and sweeter ricotta. Spread a layer of mascarpone on your crostini, top it with sliced cherry tomatoes and a sprinkle of chopped mint. A drizzle of honey on top would be icing on the cake.
Tzatziki, Grilled Zucchini & Lemon
The strained yogurt sauce known as tzatziki is made with chopped cucumbers, dill, garlic, lemon juice and a little salt and pepper. Top the tzatziki (which you can buy premade at most grocery stores) with small pieces of grilled zucchini and a squeeze of lemon juice. There’s no harm in topping it off with a sprinkle of freshly cracked black pepper, too.
Ricotta, Blueberries & Lemon Zest
Fresh fruit and ricotta are always a successful duo. For a sweet and creamy crostini idea, try a schmear of creamy ricotta with a handful of fresh blueberries and a sprinkle of lemon zest. This is a fun dessert crostini to serve up as a nightcap.
Nutella, Pears & Honey
You can’t have toast without Nutella. Spread a layer of the chocolate hazelnut spread, followed by thin slices of ripe pear and a drizzle of your favorite honey on top.
Gorgonzola, Fig Jam & Almonds
If you’re dealing with a crowd who loves cheese (who isn’t?), blue cheese and fig jam make a foolproof duo. Crumble your favorite blue cheese on a piece of toast, followed by some sort of fig jam or fig preserves and a sprinkle of chopped almonds. You’ll get the salty, the sweet and the crunch in every bite. For that extra mile, try a little drizzle of balsamic glaze on top.
Watermelon, Burrata & Basil
Burrata can do no wrong. When you pair sweet juicy watermelon with creamy burrata and pieces of fresh basil, magic happens. Top it with a sprinkle of sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to really blow your taste buds away.
Peach, Pesto & Goat Cheese
Peaches and pesto are an awesome pair. Start with a scoop of goat cheese, followed a schmear of pesto and a slice of juicy peach. Depending on what kind of flavor you want from your peach, you could caramelize it, grill it for a smokier taste or serve it fresh.
