5 Budget-Friendly Honeymoons That Feel As Luxe As Expensive Trips
Planning a honeymoon with your better half, but not sure where to go or how to make sure you don’t blow your bank account? Maybe it sounds impossible, but we’re here to tell you it is absolutely possible to embark on a budget-friendly honeymoon. These five destinations will get you true bang for your buck while still maintaining that romantic atmosphere.
1. Placencia, Belize
If you’re active and enjoy hiking, kayaking and exploring the outdoors, Placencia is the place for you. It boasts a healthy number of all-inclusive resorts that make everything easy for you, but you also can go on your own excursions at a cost you’re comfortable with. Plus, you have the option of renting your own private island for under $500 a night (now that’s pricier, we know, but we had to mention it!).
2. Tulum, Mexico
Mexico is a more budget-friendly option among international beach destinations, but Tulum is particularly cost-effective. A smaller coastal town in Mexico, Tulum doesn’t draw in nearly as many tourists as Cabo or Cancun, but it still provides a great experience. You can find cheap AF hotels right on the water for as low as $79 a night.
3. Southampton, Bermuda
Yes, you’re right in the center of the all-inclusive resorts in Southampton, but luckily, that means you have more to choose from. You’d be surprised that many all-inclusive options, like the Reefs Resort & Club, offer incredible rooms as well as complimentary meals and drinks, free water sports rentals and more for under $400 a night. That’s not bad when you consider everything that’s included.
4. North Frigate Bay, St. Kitts
St. Kitts is known for its crystal blue waters, but not necessarily for its thrifty options, right? The St. Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino is an incredible all-inclusive option for under $200 a night. A stay at the hotel includes all food, drinks, water sports and offers multiple spa packages specifically for newlyweds.
5. Lake Atitlan, Guatemala
You might not immediately think of Guatemala as an option for a honeymoon getaway, but why not? With lush forests and gorgeous highlands, Guatemala is an understated option for a romantic trip. In particular, the hotel Casa Palopo in Lake Atitlan offers scenic views of three volcanoes, nearly one-on-one staff-to-guest attention and even the blessing of a new marriage by a shaman included in the $200-or-less-per-night stay.
