Here Are The 5 Best Animal Cafes For Playing With Your Furry Friends
Cat cafes have made their mark all over the world since the one in America came to New York in 2014. But a lot has changed in recent years, including new takes on the animal cafe. From foxes to owls and even sheep, your favorite animal probably has its own cafe somewhere in the world. Here are five of the coolest animal cafes you have to visit:
1. Little Zoo Cafe (Foxes) — Bangkok, Thailand
Located in the Muang Thong Thani commercial complex, the Little Zoo Cafe houses a number of rescued foxes, which roam free throughout a separate room in the cafe. Five to ten people can go in at a time and play with them. Though they’re trained, staff warn customers that the foxes still have a wild spirit, which we would have guessed.
But that’s not all you can find at this cafe. Raccoons and meerkats also populate the second floor of the cafe, making this space a perfect place to see multiple cuddly animals.
2. Owl Cafe & Bar Owl Village Harajuku (Owls) — Tokyo, Japan
Any owl fans out there? This cafe allows you to pre-select a time slot to come see the birds, then hang with about twenty of them in a safely enclosed area. Staff will perch the birds onto your wrist, shoulder and head, and you are free to pet them as long as you don’t make any sudden movements (apparently owls do not like that).
The owls have been raised from birth like pets and are kept in a favorable environment with soft lighting and lots of room to grow and stretch their wings. An hour with these guys will cost you 1,500 yen (or about $13) in cash.
3. True Love Husky Cafe (Huskies) — Bangkok, Thailand
Bangkok has a number of unusual animal cafes (see #1), so we’re not surprised that it made a second appearance on this list with an all-husky cafe.
23 dogs roam the outside premises of the cafe with lots of room to run around and play. For 250 baht, or $10, you can enjoy an hour of free time with the huskies. But the cherry on top? Just for entering, you get a free drink and ice cream cake. Talk about a sweet deal.
4. Harry Hedgehog & Cafe (Hedgehogs) — Tokyo, Japan
If hedgehogs are your thing, you have to head to Tokyo to check these little guys out. The hedgehogs are out in the main cafe area, but they have their own pens to return to. The cafe allows you to play with, pet and feed the hedgehogs for an hour for just 1,000 yen, or $9.
5. Thanks Nature Cafe (Sheep) — Seoul, South Korea
Yep, you can even find a sheep cafe. If your idea of fun is to grab a hot tea while petting and feeding a bunch of sheep, you have to go to Thanks Nature Cafe in Seoul. The sheep are in an enclosed outdoor seating area and can mingle outside of their pens twice an hour.
Order your drink inside, then feel free to hang outside with the sheep. Sounds like fun to us.
