The avocado is one of the most versatile fruits (yup, it’s a fruit!) to have on hand. And even if you’re obsessed with avocado toast and guac as much as we are, you may often wonder, “Is there anything else I can do with this green goddess?” So much! Try substituting avocados for eggs when you make vegan baked goods to keep them moist and tasty. Or make a killer margarita with a smoothie-like consistency by blending in some avocado in there. It pairs perfectly with guac and chips, obvi. Here’s the scoop on our other favorite unusual ways to use avocados in the kitchen. [Swirled]

And If you’re not sure if your avocado is ripe, try this handy trick. Pop the little button on the stem end and take a look at the color. If it’s green, the avocado isn’t quite ready yet. If it’s yellow, it’s perfect, and if it’s brown, it’s too ripe.

Life Hack Of The Day: Printer Edition

Before you throw out the black ink cartridge or head to a printing center when the low toner light is blinking, give this simple hack a try. Highlight all the text in your document and change the color to dark blue. The color difference is virtually unnoticeable. Bonus hack: When possible, print in Times New Roman, Arial or Garamond typefaces to save ink.

Health

If you think something is lacking from your fitness routine, consider hitting the sauna or steam room after your sweat session. These rooms can help you improve your heart health and athletic performance and recovery. Plus, they’re super relaxing! As long as you stay in them for just 15 to 20 minutes, hydrate before and after, and skip the booze (also before and after), you can benefit significantly from the experience. [Greatist]

Career + Finance + Tech

Checkout on Instagram is the newest way to shop the looks you love. The social platform has paired with high-profile brands like Zara, H&M and Adidas to bring you an in-app shopping experience. Food + Drink

Recipe Of The Day: Chicken isn’t usually glamorous, but wow, chicken marsala will change your mind about that! And mushroom lovers, rejoice — the secret to success here is the buttery, marsala wine-infused mushroom sauce. Brown boneless, skin-on chicken breasts in a large skillet. Then remove the chicken and sauté onions and mushrooms until all the mushroom liquid has evaporated. Add marsala wine, chicken broth, the browned chicken and its juices back into the pan. Simmer for 15 minutes until the chicken is thoroughly cooked. Remove the chicken and continue to reduce the sauce, finishing it off with some butter. Top the chicken and serve! [Smitten Kitchen]

A quick tip from yours truly:
Boneless chicken thighs bring tons of flavor to any recipe and tend to be more cost-effective than chicken breasts.
