Aska Features Scandinavian Cuisine Under A Williamsburg Sky

  • Aska, which means ashes in Swedish, is a modern 24-seat Brooklyn dining room, helmed by the Michelin-starred chef/owner Fredrik Berselius, adjacent to the Williamsburg bridge
  • Berselius channels his Swedish roots with an ambitious multi-course tasting menu that changes daily ($215 per person with 18 plates), combining his connection to nature with locally-sourced fish, meat, vegetables, and foraged goods from all across the Northeast
  • The Nordic-inspired tasting menu incorporates ingredients from a nearby urban farm with a story behind each dish. Set aside around three hours for Berselius’ meticulously crafted menu and expect a combination of seasonally-driven small plates and dishes to share

Aska draws in a neighborhood crowd with a bar and outdoor garden area under the stars, which operates on a first-come first-serve basis. Berselius originally opened Aska in the back of Kinfolk Studios, where he earned a Michelin star, two stars from The New York Times, and a spot on Bon Appetit’s “10 Best New Restaurants of 2013” list. After a longer-than-anticipated hiatus — the Swedish chef wanted a space to call his own where he could expand his vision — admirers of his cuisine now have Aska 2.0
