People Are Seriously Pissed Off With Whole Foods Under Amazon’s Reign

When Amazon acquired Whole Foods back in June of 2017, shoppers were excited to see what would happen to the influential, health-focused store chain. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said consumers could expect to see a price drop, which was music to shoppers’ ears. However, it now looks like the $13.7 billion Whole Foods merger might be negatively impacting customer satisfaction, according to Business Insider.

Shoppers across the United States are claiming that the quality of Whole Foods’ produce has declined since Amazon took over, and this shift could force customers to take their grocery business elsewhere.

From interviews to social media posts, dozens of customers have voiced complaints about rotten, tasteless, discolored produce in Whole Foods stores nationwide over the past few months. Yet, Whole Foods told Business Insider that it has made no recent changes that would affect the availability or quality of its produce.

Shoppers who go to the grocery store chain multiple times a week noticed a decline in their shopping experiences since the acquisition and have noted that Whole Foods’ vibe has changed.

While there’s no proof that the quality of produce has suffered directly from this shift in power, it’s clear that something is going on… and not in a good way. If loyal customers can’t find reliable kitchen staples at the same Whole Foods quality they enjoyed before the reign of Amazon, the consequences could be pretty steep.

We suppose we’ll see what the future holds.
