Amazon’s New Meal Kits Could Make You Ditch Blue Apron For Good
If you’ve tried a meal kit from the likes of Blue Apron or HelloFresh, you know how much time, effort and, at times, money you can save with them. Naturally, Amazon is getting in the game by releasing its own meal kits that look just like Blue Apron’s — only you don’t have to subscribe to a service to order them. Yep, we’re already in love.
Business Insider reports that AmazonFresh launched the kits, which include all the necessary ingredients and instructions to make a delicious AF meal, today (July 18). By 9 a.m. ET, five out of the 19 meal options sold out completely.
The meals look every bit as appetizing as what you would find on any other meal kit website. From Yakisoba noodle stir fry to smoked carne asada street tacos, you can find just about any cuisine and flavor profile that your little heart desires.
So, what sets the Amazon meals apart?
First, you could be getting more bang for your buck with Amazon as opposed to plans like Blue Apron’s. In some cases, an Amazon meal kit that serves up to four is only $9.99 per serving, whereas Blue Apron’s starting meal kit serves two for $9.99 per serving.
Second, and most importantly, you do not need to subscribe to a service to get an Amazon meal kit. As long as you have an Amazon account, you can try just one, or you can order as frequently as you’d like.
We’re eager to try one of these meals. Is there anything Amazon can’t do? Well, we guess the company can’t cook the meals for us — that would be nice — but we’ll take what we can get.
