Airbnb Wants To Send You On An Insane Solar Eclipse Vacation

If you’re one of those people who stays up all night just to see the latest meteor shower or planet sighting, this vacation is for you. Airbnb is having a contest in which one lucky winner will go on the trip of a lifetime. If you win, you could be one of the first people in the world to witness a solar eclipse that only comes around every century. Yeah, that’s badass.

The much-anticipated eclipse is happening on August 21. It will be the first full solar eclipse the United States has seen in 99 years.

In honor of the phenomenon, Airbnb is sending one person and a guest to Oregon on August 20. They will stay in a luxury tent with an accompanying observation deck before boarding a private jet heading toward Pacific coastline, where scientists expect the view to be incredible.

The jet will stay suspended in the eclipse’s path so that the winner has up to a minute of viewing time. Then, it will travel to Lincoln City, Oregon, which is where it’s first expected to be visible from land. Essentially, the winner will see this massive eclipse before anyone else in the U.S., and that is a huge deal.

To enter the contest, you have to answer the following question in 550 characters or less: “On August 21, 2017, millions of people will come together across the U.S. to experience a rare astronomical event: a total solar eclipse. Tell us why you think this is bringing people together, and why you want to be a part of it.”

Make sure to answer the question by August 10 for your chance to win the all-expenses-paid trip. Good luck!
