What’s better than a craft beer-themed hotel? A craft beer-themed hotel run by a dog-loving Scottish brewery, BrewDog. The flagship brewery is located in Ellon, Scotland, and the US headquarters is in Canal Winchester, Ohio. As if this concept couldn’t get any cooler, the whole $7.3 million hotel, to be called The DogHouse, will be completely crowdfunded. Backers of the hotel will receive some perks upon its opening like free nights and guaranteed access to the first five releases from the sour beer facility next door. Those who donate will also get to host a complimentary event at the hotel.

According to the BrewDog site, The DogHouse will feature a craft beer spa with beer-based treatments, a tap in every room serving the brewery’s well-known Punk IPA, and a beer fridge in the shower so you can sip while you wash. If all goes according to plan, guests who stay in the luxury suite will get a hot tub filled with BrewDog’s award-winning Punk IPA. That’s not all — you’ll get to enjoy three-course meals that are all infused and paired with artisanal craft beers. The brewery plans to open the hotel next to BrewDog’s new taproom and sour beer brewery in Columbus, Ohio.

Co-founders James Watt and Martin Dickie were “bored of the industrially brewed lagers and stuffy ales that dominated the UK beer market.” They took the UK beer world by storm and became the “fastest-growing alternative beer brand.” In 2009, James and Martin launched Equity for Punks where they offered the public the opportunity to buy shares in their company online. They also casually created the world’s strongest (and probably most expensive) beer called Tactical Nuclear Penguin, with an ABV of 32%. Since then, BrewDog has been pushing boundaries and changing people’s attitudes towards craft beer.

James and Martin hope to make this craft beer hotel an all-around indulgent experience for beer lovers and animal lovers alike. BrewDog won over the hearts of animal lovers when they announced they would be offering all of their employees “paw-ternity leave.” This means a week of paid time off to employees who bring home a new puppy or rescue dog. Now that the Scottish brewery has been given the green light for the hotel, these plans can come to life and the hotel will hopefully open by 2018.
