Speedy Romeo LES, A Brooklyn Institution, Crosses The Bridge

[tw-divider]The Scoop[/tw-divider]

  • An outpost of the Brooklyn flagship that’s already gotten Michelin buzz, Speedy Romeo LES carries the restaurant’s tradition of using a wood-fired oven and grill to make everything on the menu
  • To celebrate the opening of the LES location, Speedy Romeo in Manhattan created a special pizza called the Paul’s Boutique, inspired by an LES storefront that the Beastie Boys had on their album of the same name. The pizza features Katz’s pastrami and a rye crust
  • Speedy Romeo puts its wood-fired grill to good use with larger entrees like the whole branzino, the bone-in ribeye for two, and the chicken parm that calls for a half chicken

The chef, Justin Bazdarich, worked for nearly a decade under Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and he can do more than pizza — though, again, his is mentioned by the Michelin Guide. Don’t ignore the rest of the menu, standouts of which include the peekytoe crab with spring vegetables, the grilled octopus, and the wood-roasted artichoke
