The Longest Cruise In The World Will Hit 59 Countries And Last 8 Months
Eight months on a boat sounds like some early explorer type nonsense, but Viking Cruises is attempting to make it high-class and comfy. The cruise company is creating the longest cruise route in the world. It’s an eight-month journey to six continents and 59 countries.
It’s an around-the-world voyage, truly spanning the globe. The cruise ship will accommodate 930 people and reach 113 ports. The trip will also include overnight stays in 23 different cities so travelers can experience nightlife around the world.
The “Ultimate World Cruise” will leave from London in 2019 and stops in other parts of the U.K. and Ireland before heading on to Scandinavia. Then, you’ll cross the Atlantic via Iceland and Greenland, and stop in Canada port cities such as Montreal and Quebec City.
U.S. stops will include Boston and New York City, followed by various Caribbean islands. Then it’s on to Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Peru and up the western coast of South and North America (think Costa Rica, Mexico and California).
You’ll see the South Pacific next, then New Zealand and Australia. Indonesia is your bridge into Asia, where cruises will see China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and India, among other countries. From there, you’ll go through the Middle East toward the Mediterranean Sea, with stops in Egypt and Malta before reaching Spain. The final leg of the adventure goes from Portugal back to England.
Ready to get your sea legs on? The entire trip starts at $92,990 per person. If all that is a little too much for you, you can split the sail into smaller jaunts.
Viking is debuting new 127-day cruises from London to Los Angeles and 119-day cruises going from Los Angeles to London. The shorter trips cost closer to $46,000. Modern-day luxury sea life doesn’t come cheap.
