In no particular order, these eight are some of the coolest night markets in the world. (Spoiler alert: Most of them are in Asia because the market game is so strong across the continent.)

1. Ratchada Night Bazaar, Bangkok, Thailand

Ratchada is basically a flea market where all the bargain hunting goes down at night. You can search through vintage antiques and all sorts of unique finds while hanging out with the locals.

2. Chiang Mai Night Bazaar, Chiang Mai, Thailand

Knockoffs abound at this bazaar in Northern Thailand, so that means the deals are good. If you’re looking for faux designer digs, this is your place. However, you’ll find authentic crafts on Sundays.

3. Marrakesh Night Market, Marrakesh, Morocco

We honestly can’t get enough of the Marrakesh souks. At night, the marketplace lights up with both bright lanterns and delicious scents of local delicacies.

4. Ningxia Night Market, Taipei, Taiwan

This market’s history goes back more than 60 years and is home to 200 vendors. It’s solely a food affair and even tries to be eco-friendly with sustainable chopsticks served with many dishes.

5. The Summer Night Market, Richmond, Canada

Canada’s largest immigrant population is in Richmond, where the market shows off our northern neighbor’s melting pot of culture. Think Chinese, Thai and Italian cuisines with performances by local art groups.

You’ll find a mix of food, shops and actual bars and cafes all housed in bamboo huts. After you grab a drink, you can shop silks, scarves and handcrafted souvenirs.

Traditional embroidery is the gem here, with Hmong craftspeople selling one-of-a-kind finds. The market happens every night and there’s food to hold over your cravings while you bargain.
