Forget Hotels, You Can Now Rent Lighthouses, Houseboats And Yurts On Booking.com
Want to stay in a lighthouse? Houseboat? Yurt? Well, Booking.com wants in on that game because the website is now offering all sorts of wacky accommodations for travelers to peruse.
The new venture by Booking.com is called Book The U.S. and it highlights off-beat accommodations in states across the country for travelers who want to go beyond the traditional hotel experience.
We’re totally drawn to the aquatic options. There’s a houseboat on the Mississippi River in Minnesota, a lighthouse near the coast of Massachusetts and even a house next door to a historic covered bridge in New Hampshire.
But if a shrimp boat doesn’t do it for you, there are many other intriguing options on offer. There’s a winery in Georgia, a treehouse in Ohio and a rustic cabin with nearby hot springs in Colorado, too. Prices obviously range depending on the property. For instance, a night in the Ohio treehouse is close to $300, but a stay in a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed house in Illinois is $1,360 per night.
Booking.com is also running some intriguing specials to kick off the new section of the site. For $1,500 a night you could be a lucky guest at one of three exclusive destinations. There’s a suite on the 80th floor of the Empire State Building in New York City, a tour bus in Los Angeles that Nick Jonas had a hand in designing and a room at the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami.
Now, we assume Booking.com’s move is a response to some of the viral funky spots on Airbnb. And honestly, the more the merrier. The more houseboats that are out there for rent, the more we can sleep in. Hotels and even apartments are so 2016. Bring on the yurts!
