6 Honeymoons For Couples Who Can’t Eat Enough Cheese

Does your bae get… cheesy? And we don’t mean corny dad jokes or tons of puns, we’re talking about actual brie, cheddar and feta. If you’re a couple who loves sampling the best cheeses out there, your honeymoon has gotta be equally packed with chèvre, camembert and cream. Here’s where to go.

1. Wisconsin, U.S.

If you’re on a budget, Wisco is the way to go. Wisconsin is center-of-the-country cheese heaven. The state produces more cheese than any other state, so a road trip means basically unlimited cheese curds. We’d suggest a stop in Milwaukee for breweries, the coast of Lake Michigan for views and Door County for cozy bed and breakfasts.

2. Finger Lakes, New York, U.S.

There’s an actual Cheese Trail through New York’s Finger Lakes. You can visit rustic local farms, cheesemakers and wineries (sometimes in the same buildings) for amazing pairings. Toast to your new marriage while tasting some pretty great blues and cheddars.

3. Île d’Orléans, Quebec, Canada

Near Quebec City, you’ll find a tiny island that’s responsible for bringing cheese to North America. Cheesemakers on Île d’Orléans sometimes still sell their wares in traditional dress. You can do rustic on the island and then head to the city for some wine and dine romance.

4. Paris, France

Paris’ Rue Mouffetard is “a moveable feast,” according to Ernest Hemmingway. And we can vouch for the cheese selection. Cheesemongers in Paris are fromagers and cheese shops are fromageries, and you can build your own feast just along this one walkable section of the city from the fromageries, boulangeries and patisseries.

5. Gruyere, Switzerland

The medieval town of Gruyere is also home to the delicious variety of cheese of the same name. Go for the fondue, but stay for the hot chocolate, wine and even more cheese. You can hike some of those calories away in the surrounding mountains.

6. Italy

The cheese blow out of honeymoons is also a tour of one of the most romantic countries in the world: Italy. Start in Parma for parmesan, then Piedmont for Grana Padano and finish up in Naples for the best mozzarella of your entire existence.
