This Muddy Obstacle Race Is Every Dog Lover’s Dream Come True
Move over, Tough Mudder. There’s a new obstacle race in town, and it lets you team up with your favorite furry friend to complete each messy challenge on the course.
The Muddy Dog Challenge will be making its way through a handful of United Kingdom cities in 2018. Human and canine companions can run either the 2.5-kilometer or 5-kilometer course, both of which include tons of green space, tire obstacles, water and, of course, mud. According to a spokesperson for the event, the challenges are suitable for all fitness levels.
The event also isn’t a traditional race. It doesn’t use a time clock, and the crew running it certainly won’t hurry any dogs or owners along. It’s all about having a fun day outside together and taking walk time to an entirely new level.
As if watching a bunch of pups have the time of their lives running around in the mud next to you isn’t enough, all proceeds from The Muddy Dog Challenge go to the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, a huge animal sanctuary in the UK. The funds help support the staff, and the numerous canines and felines there who rely on their care. (They take in approximately 7,000 animals each year.)
If you think you and your dog friend are ready to give this challenge a go, the entrance fee is £45 (or $60). You need to be at least 18 years old to enter. And each participant is expected to fundraise at least £100 ($133) additional for the event. It is for charity, after all.
So start getting your pup’s papers in order for that international flight, folks. You have an important race to run next year.
