Entrepreneurs have to get their start somewhere, and we can thank “Shark Tank” for taking small ideas and introducing them to the masses. On the show, dreamers present their business concepts to the “sharks” — Kevin O’Leary, Phil Crowley, Robert Herjavec, Mark Cuban, Daymond John, Lori Greiner and Barbara Corcoran, each a titan who has successfully built a business empire. The contestants try to convince the sharks to invest money in their companies in exchange for a piece of their profits.
There’s a lot of tension, businessy humor, soul crushing and excitement on “Shark Tank” and it’s slightly addicting to watch once you get into it. Some killer food products have become insanely popular from the show. Here are our favorites.
1. Loliware
You know what’s better than drinking wine? Drinking wine out of an edible cup so that you can feel environmentally conscious while you’re drinking! Loliware is an edible and disposable cup that’s plastic-free, gluten-free, gelatin-free, BPA-free, non-GMO, non-toxic, FDA-approved and safe. Table 87 figured out a way to sell its pizza frozen so you can order coal oven Margherita pizza slices, made with fresh mozzarella and San Marzano tomatoes, from anywhere in the country.
3. Three Jerks Jerky
For those of you that are suckers for filet mignon, Three Jerks Jerky has made it possible to snack on the prime cut of meat outside of a top-notch steakhouse. Filet mignon jerky is made with ingredients that you can actually pronounce. It’s gluten-free with no MSG, no artificial ingredients and no sodium nitrates. The jerky comes in flavors like Chipotle Adobo, Memphis Brand BBQ Recipe, Beefy and Savory, Maple Bourbon Churro, Hamburger Jerky and Very Very Teriyaki.
4. Pipcorn
This gourmet mini-popcorn company has been pretty successful. The popcorn has a delicate hull and small kernel that won’t get stuck in your teeth like regular popcorn does, yet it’s still fresh and crispy all around. Pipcorn is gluten-free, non-GMO, vegan (minus the Organic Butter Ghee flavor) and whole grain. Flavors include truffle, sea salt, ghee, kettle, cheddar, sea salt and vinegar and rosemary.
5. Delighted By Dessert Hummus
If you’re a fan of the savory stuff, chances are you’ll be a fan dessert hummus. It’s an odd combination, but it works. The health-conscious company Delighted By makes a snack that’s vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free and low in sugar. The sweet spread has a similar texture to cookie dough, but it’s made from chickpeas and you can find it at Whole Foods stores all over the country. You can dip your pretzels and fruit in it, add it to your oatmeal or spread it on your toast. Dessert hummus comes in four flavors: Brownie Batter, Choc-O-Mint, Snickerdoodle and Vanilla Bean.
6. Beatbox Beverages
This company took bagged wine to a whole new level. Beatbox Beverages makes “portable party punch,” so basically mixed drinks in bag form that you can take with you anywhere. Oh, and the bag is shaped like a beatbox. Bye Franzia. The two main flavors, Blue Razzberry and Fruit Punch, have 34 mixed drinks inside each box. One beer beatbox is equivalent to 40 beers and a wine-based beatbox has seven bottles of wine inside. The company also sells an individual sized container called The Mixtape.
7. Bantam Bagels
The idea for Bantam Bagels came to Co-founder Nick Oleksak in a dream. The day after, the first batch was made. This Brooklyn-based bagel company makes mini-stuffed bagel balls. Now, these stuffed bagels are available in Starbucks’ pastry cases and grocery stores across the country.
You can get the “Shark Tank Sample Pack” with six different flavors: everything bagel stuffed with veggie cream cheese, plain bagel stuffed with plain cream cheese, a pretzel salt bagel stuffed with cheddar dijon cream cheese, an Italian seasoned bagel stuffed with pesto and cream cheese, a cinnamon nutmeg bagel stuffed with maple syrup cream cheese and a brown sugar bagel stuffed with chocolate chip cream cheese.
8. Fizzics
If you’ve ever bought beer in a can, bottle or growler and it hasn’t tasted nearly as good as it does coming from a tap, you might be a fan of this Shark Tank-approved product. Fizzics is an innovative draft beer system, which uses sound waves to enhance a beer’s flavor and give it a creamy foam. This product is for beer devotees who would go through all sorts of efforts for the perfect glass of beer. It basically takes your beer that you would buy at the store and gives it the same effect that you’d get from a tap.
9. Wicked Good Cupcakes
When you love cupcakes, but hate baking, Wicked Good Cupcakes comes in handy. The mother-and-daughter business makes and ships cupcakes that are packed into jars. Each jar has two cupcakes and will last up to 10 days without refrigeration or they can be frozen for up to six months. The company ships all around the country and the sweets make for the perfect gift.
