05/31/19 Newsletter: 7 Summer Sips To Try

1. What To Drink: Summer Cocktails

One of the best parts of summer is getting to enjoy a bounty of fresh produce. And we love the idea of incorporating fresh fruit into some farm-to-party summer cocktails, of course. Sip a strawberry gin and tonic poolside or try a twist on the classic orange creamsicle with a Mimosa float — yum! Try one of these delish libations this weekend and get the party started. [Swirled]

2. Life Hack Of The Day: Weed Killer Edition

Kick those pesky weeds in your yard with a simple and safe homemade weed killer. Fill a squirt bottle or sprayer with white vinegar and a little salt, then spray onto hard-to-kill invaders. Pro tip: This works better in sunny areas as opposed to shaded areas of the garden.

3. Workout Of The Week: Single-leg Deadlifts

Pump up your booty game with a single-leg deadlift, and build some serious glute muscles. Start with your feet together, knees slightly bent, and shift the bulk of your weight into your left leg, keeping your hips square and maintaining a slight bend in your knee. Raise your right leg straight behind your body, hinging at the hips and bringing your torso parallel to the floor. Make sure to keep your chin tucked to avoid straining your neck. At the bottom of the movement, your right leg and back should be almost parallel to the floor. Then return to the starting position, keeping your right leg straight and tap it on the floor before repeating the movement. [Swirled]

4. R&R: Banana Honey Mask

If summertime sweat and humidity has you feeling oilier than usual, try a homemade face mask for baby soft skin that doesn’t require a drop of foundation. All you need is banana, honey, and a spritz of lemon juice for a punch of vitamin A, B and E. Honey will help your skin maintain moisture while the lemon exfoliates and refreshes even the greasiest skin. [WikiHow]

5. Dream Destination: Fort Collins, Colorado

Escape the beaten path with a trip to picturesque Fort Collins, Colorado. Rent a bicycle and breeze along the many well-kept trails that extend from downtown to the Poudre River, where bubbling rapids and sky-scraping willow trees make for a magical ride. With food and music festivals dotting the summer calendar and a plethora of micro-breweries, this city has something for anyone who stops through. [Visit Fort Collins]

6. Wild Card: Fruit Fashion

Ditch the florals and embrace the trendy fruit-pattern this summer. No, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen this trend but this season’s take is sophisticated, yet still fun. If you’re on the daring side, don a vibrant pink monochromatic outfit that kindles an image of juicy watermelon. For the more subtle fashionista, pick up a simple cherry patterned dress perfect for your next picnic. [The Zoe Report]
