Life Hack Of The Day: Bacon Edition

Makin’ bacon without greasing up your kitchen is super simple. Place slices in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet and bake in a 400-degree oven for 15-20 minutes. Drain on a paper towel and serve. Bonus: The slices come out cooked, crisp and flat.

Health

Seriously we didn’t believe it at first, but it turns out there are a few other ways to use deodorant than just keeping yourself fresh. For instance, the aluminum in conventional deodorant can sooth the itch of mosquito bites and a spritz of spray-on deodorant is a quick fix for a squeaky door. Genius. [Swirled]

Career + Finance + Tech

Before you bust a coworker publicly for fibbing about something company-related, meet with them one-on-one. They may have an explanation for the lie or will nosedive further into dishonesty. If you give them the opportunity to fess up and they don’t take it, then you can bring it to the boss. [Swirled]

Food + Drink

For those of us who’ve been waiting in eager anticipation for the release of “Toy Story 4”, our love for a good Pixar flick might be seen as childish. But if you’re whipping up a delicious dish with some Toy Story-themed kitchenware nobody will complain. Whether it’s our favorite piggy bank Hamm featured on a spatula or some Woody pancake molds, these tools are an adorable addition to any kitchen. [The Daily Meal]

Recipe Of The Day: Who else wants to celebrate “Toy Story 4” with something sweet? Then you’re in luck. Head to the kitchen and whip up some silly and sweet Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head cookies. They take no time at all and will definitely bring a smile to your face. Start with your favorite sugar cookie dough, roll out and cut into the iconic egg-shape. While the cookies bake (according to directions) mix up the frosting. Add a touch of yellow and brown food coloring into white icing for that perfect potato hue — it’ll resemble the color of peanut butter. Once your cookies are completely cooled, spread the icing over top and start decorating. Use a variety of colored fondant and candies to create the classic look of the Potato Heads, or get creative with your own unique take. [Mommy Made That]

A quick tip from yours truly: If you use a store-bought sugar cookie dough roll (no judgment here!) add one-half cup of flour to the dough and mix until it’s incorporated. This will help your cookies keep their shape while baking.

If you’re looking to get a taste of off-the-grid living but aren’t ready to travel internationally, spending a few nights at a solar-powered dome located in the Far West Texas desert might be just what you need to get your adventure fix. Psst: WiFi is included so you can document your experience for all your followers.  [Swirled]

Did You Know?

When cooking veggies, microwave them to preserve their nutrient content. (Sounds counterintuitive, but it’s true!) And splash them with water first to keep them from drying out. Want more wellness tips like this every week? Sign up for our Daily Fit by Swirled newsletter!
