The Lower East Cider Fest
On Sunday, October 23, the second annual Lower East Cider Fest returns to the very appropriately named Orchard Street (between Houston and Delancey), as part of Cider Week NYC 2016.
Cider makers and growers will be in attendance from all over New York, including the Finger Lakes, the Hudson Valley, Western New York, and New York City. Admission is free, and each participating cidery will be pouring samples to enjoy alongside pay-as-you-go, cider-friendly dishes from local restaurants. The festival runs from 12-4pm.
Wassail, the Lower East Side’s own cider restaurant, will be hosting the Fermentation Station, a pay-as-you-go experience outside the restaurant, serving select pours to demonstrate qualities such as tannin, acidity, sugar, and aroma and how they express themselves in a finished, fermented product. Ciders will be available on tap.
