During the final days of La Fête du Champagne 2016, restaurants all over New York City will offer special Champagne flights, tasting menus, and by-the-glass offerings, while participating retailers will be hosting in-store tastings and special Champagne offers.

Featuring nearly 30 Champagne producers including Dom Pérignon, Pascal Doquet, Krug, Larmandier-Bernier, Ruinart, Savart, Louis Roederer, and several others, the program for La Fête du Champagne Week 2016 will feature exclusive tastings, dinners, and master classes from Thursday, November 3 until Sunday, November 6:

La Fête du Champagne 2016 kicks off with a spectacular lunch featuring J. L. Vergnon’s racy, pure Blanc de Blancs from Le Mesnil alongside Savart’s expressive pinot noirs from the terroirs of Ecueil. Guests will explore these exquisite Champagnes while enjoying a tasting menu of Chef Günter Seeger’s refined, creative cuisine at the chef’s newly opened eponymous restaurant that has been thrilling critics and diners alike. This lunch provides an insider’s tasting tour of Champagne’s unique diversity, as expressed through two of the region’s finest grower estates today.

Join Peter Liem for a lively introduction to the wines of Champagne, focusing on terroir, grape varieties, viticulture, cellar practices, and producers.  Guests will taste six wines representing the breadth of the region’s diversity.

A Sommelier’s Perspective with Daniel Johnnes

Daniel Johnnes, La Fête du Champagne co-founder, will lead a panel of passionate sommeliers to discuss the role of Champagne in their respective wine programs and offer insights into pairings and service. Wine Directors Patrick Cappiello of Rebelle and Pearl & Ash, David Gordon of Myriad Restaurant Group, Pascaline Lepeltier of Rouge Tomate Chelsea, and Thomas Pastuszak of the NoMad Hotel will each choose one Champagne to pair with a tasting portion of a dish prepared by Chef Andy Bennett of Rouge Tomate. The intricacies of each pairing will be highlighted and accentuated by tasting the Champagnes alone and then again with the selected dish.

Pinot Noir Terroirs with Drappier, Philipponnat, and Geoffroy

Tickets: $95

Not all terroirs are created equally for Champagne varieties – this seminar, moderated by Peter Liem, will examine the soils and climates necessary to grow great pinot noir in Champagne. Michel Drappier, Charles Philipponnat, and Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy – producers known for their mastery of pinot noir – will each present different examples of their Champagnes.

Grand Tasting

Guests will enjoy a selection of wines from each attending producer for a total of nearly 100 different Champagnes accompanied by a selection of small plates from some of New York City’s top restaurants. Winemakers will be joined by a group of top sommeliers to present the wines and offer their insights. An interactive riddling competition with attending producers will add to the festivities.

The Gala Dinner of previous editions of La Fête is now a Sunday gala lunch at legendary restaurant DANIEL on New York’s Upper East Side. Chef Daniel Boulud will be joined by chef Arnaud Lallement of  the three Michelin-starred l’Assiette Champenoise in Reims to prepare a luxurious Champagne-friendly multi-course menu. In addition to enjoying special bottles provided by all attending producers, guests are invited to bring bottles of Champagne from their cellars to share with the room. This is sure to be a Champagne-soaked celebration with some of the region’s finest winemakers and two of the world’s greatest chefs!
