President Obama and the first lady are in town for the UN General Assembly, and the stylish couple was spotted on a taco run with a 13-car motorcade in tow. The Obamas went to Cosme, Enrique Olvera’s mind-blowing Mexican restaurant in Flatiron, and enjoyed the chef’s famous duck tacos, which are confirmed to be some of the most delicious tacos in the entire city.

Like Father, Like Foot-in-Mouther

The Internet did not take kindly to a comment made this week by Donald Trump Jr., who compared Syrian refugees to poisonous Skittles.

Shortly thereafter, the photographer of this very bowl of Skittles — an image Trump Jr. utilized for his political message without permission — identified himself as a refugee of the Turkish occupation of Cyprus in 1974.

Sorry, but the Five-Second Rule Isn’t Real and We’re All Gross

The so-called “five-second rule” is a giant myth and there’s no telling how much bacteria we’ve collectively ingested as a result of buying into it, according to a new study. Along with a thesis student, Professor Donald W. Schaffner, a food microbiologist at Rutgers, found that when four different foods — strawberry gummies, watermelon, bread, and buttered bread — were dropped on four surfaces — wood, carpet, stainless steel, and ceramic tile —  that had been treated with a microorganism similar to Salmonella, bacterial transfer happened “instantaneously.” So no matter how fast you think your reflexes are, you’re no match for food poisoning.

The divorce announcement between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt was such big news this week that it was covered in The New York Times, and you’ve no doubt seen countless memes and articles lamenting that love is dead. But if you’re a true romantic, you should actually take a gander at Ina Garten’s borderline obsessive interview in Vanity Fair, which is promoting her upcoming 10th cookbook. In it, Garten says that her biggest regret in life is not marrying her husband Jeffrey sooner, even though they met when she was 15 and married when she was 20, and that it doesn’t matter how she dies as long as she and Jeffrey shed their Earthly bodies at the same time. Oh yeah, and her newest cookbook is literally called Cooking for Jeffrey.
