It’s Time for Cider Week at Wassail!

Wassail, the LES cider restaurant and bar (on Orchard Street, no less) should be your base of operations during Cider Week NYC, which runs October 21-30.

In addition to hosting a Fermentation Station outside the restaurant during The Lower East Cider Fest, Wassail will be home to several Cider Week events:

Eden Specialty Ciders

Eden Specialty Ciders

An exploration of rare apple varieties, including Kandil Sinap, Niedzwetzkyana, Black Oxford, Harry Master’s Jersey, Kazakhstan apples, Harrison, Virginia Crab, Razor Russet, Pitmaston Pineapple, Rubinette, and Calville Blanc.


Tuesday, October 25 at 8pm
So You Want to Start Your Own Cidery
Admission: $25

Cidermaker Seth Jones (East Hollow Cider) will guide guests through a tasting of his complex ciders and share his journey of turning “orphan apples” into his own orchard. Lindsey Zahn, an attorney who focuses her practice on alcohol beverage and food regulation, will also be there to point you in the right direction, should you be inclined to launch your own cidery.

A four-course dinner will be paired with a selection of ciders from Sundström Cider in the Hudson Valley, which focuses on wild harvest apples and older heirloom apple varieties. Menu to come.

Tia Keenan, author of “The Art of the Cheese Plate: Pairings, Recipes, Style, Attitude“, teams up with Wassail’s “pommelier” Dan Pucci and Chef Vinicius Campos for a tasting of New York state cider, cheese (courtesy of Saxelby’s) and inventive pairings.

Golden Russet: Apples to Cider
Tickets: $25

Learn about the history of the Golden Russet, an iconic New York apple that’s become a signature of the American cider revival. Autumn Stoscheck of Eve’s Cidery will share her intimate understanding of the personality of the Golden Russet, and guests will taste a variety of Golden Russet apples from all over the state, and of course, unique brews using the Golden Russet from several cidermakers.
