If you’re looking for a vacation and want the best of the best and something off the beaten path, you’re in luck. Travel + Leisure named San Miguel De Allende the best city of 2017. You know what’s great about that? It’s just south of the U.S./Mexico border and it’s an affordable trip.

Travel + Leisure’s annual list is derived from reader reviews and experiences. Surprisingly, a lot of readers showed more interest in Mexico in general this year. Two other Mexican cities made the New York Times’ list of the best places to go in 2017 as well.

So why San Miguel De Allende? It’s a larger Mexican city that’s famous for its charm. Cobblestone walkways, incredible food and a lot of quiet distinguish this city from so many others.

You can take a walk through colorful plazas, contemplate life in massive cathedrals and taste some of the best food Mexico has to offer. To get there, you fly to Del Bajío Airport and take a 90-minute shuttle to the city. Not so bad for the best city in the world, right? Sounds like a dream to us.
