Looking for a well-worn trail? These popular cities are the most visited in the world, welcoming millions of tourists every year. Don’t stress too much about crowds, though — each of these locations is an enormous metro, so there’s plenty of room for everyone to find something new that they’d like to explore. According to a recent Mastercard report, here are the top contenders for the world’s favorite travel destination.

But even so, the Thai capital Bangkok is a bit of a dark horse to come in at number one for the most visited city in the world. More than 19 million tourists hit up Bangkok in 2016 for the colorful markets, delicious street food and budget-friendly activities.

2. London, England

Unsurprisingly, everyone wants a piece of London. Around 19 million people visited the iconic British city last year, grabbing pints in pubs, exploring the royal palace grounds and taking selfies with red phone booths.

With its unmatchable culture, treats and art, Paris is always a good idea. And approximately 15.45 million visitors in 2016 agreed with the need to buy a baguette straight from the best boulangeries in the world.
