Here’s What You Should Know About ‘Martha And Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party’

There’s no doubt Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg are possibly the weirdest best friend duo you could imagine. Just seeing their names side by side is enough to get people to tune in.

“Martha And Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party” is a half-hour long television show on VH1 where Martha and Snoop each prepare their own dishes with a common theme. The rap mogul and queen of all things culinary are usually joined by famous friends on each episode, such as Wiz Khalifa and Seth Rogen. The show is basically one giant casual dinner party and it gets all kinds of weird and hilariously inappropriate.

Martha and Snoop have rubbed off on each other.

You might think when you put two seemingly polar opposites together on television, there might be a little conflict, but Martha and Snoop are a perfect patch. You can tell their friendship is the real deal and that they respect each other. Martha ends up rubbing off on Snoop to the point where he has come to appreciate the art of preparation for a meal. You’ll also catch Martha wearing some bling on the show.

Martha Stewart is hella competitive.

You don’t have to watch the show religiously to know that Martha gets competitive when it comes to cooking next to Snoop. When you’re that successful, competitiveness is part of your DNA, so it’s no surprise that Martha talks a big game. There’s also some endearing shi*t talking from Martha towards Snoop during the show.

Snoop is always buzzed.

Cocktails are always brewing on the show, so it’s no surprise that Snoop has a constant buzz going on. Drinking is probably encouraged on the show since it’s supposed to be a party atmosphere. Drinks also make for better TV when everyone is comfortable and loosened up. Snoop does have a reputation as one of the most infamous stoners in the country, so in addition to having a buzz on set, he’s definitely pretty high… like, most of the time. Despite all of the partying, the two are still fully functional and amusing.

The show is killing it with the ratings.

VH1 definitely took a risk with this show, but when it debuted, it already had 3 million viewers. Season 1 of the show received a rating of 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Just hours after the third episode of season one, the network announced a renewal. The buzz around the show has been huge for VH1 and Martha and Snoop. Martha now has an entirely new fan base since the premiere of the show.

It’s still a cooking show despite all of the shenanigans.

If there’s one thing we know about Martha, it’s that she’s a badass. She’s a badass and a boss. (She admitted on the show that she once killed a live chicken with her bare hands). In between talking about sausage parties, NuvaRings with Seth Rogen and all things kush, the show still somehow remains a cooking show. You can tune in, laugh at the ridiculousness and, at the end of the day, still learn some kind of culinary tip from Martha. She might be teased for “knowing how to make shit whiter,” but that doesn’t stop Martha from doing her thing.

Snoop is graceful AF.

Well, things run a little smoother when you have a buzz on during the show, but either way, Snoop is a graceful dude. Snoop’s version of saying thanks before the meal includes lines like, “We’re all about to eat fried chicken that’ll make your fingers glisten.” Snoop also taught Martha to stay by your food when it’s cooking. Martha seems to get easily distracted, but Snoop is constantly touching his food and stirring the pot. He’s a natural in the kitchen and the two learn from each other.

The duo has known each other for at least eight years.

The “king of kush” and “queen of cuisine” have a friendship that goes back to 2008 when Snoop guest-starred on Martha’s show to help make some mashed potatoes. The chemistry was there and you could just tell they were vibing from the start. Over the years, the two have grown with each other and now we all get to watch their beautiful friendship blossom on TV.
