Crazy Easter Candy That Could End Up In Your Basket This Year

Burst/Sarah Pflug

Just when you’re starting to have sugar withdrawals after finally finishing your last heart-shaped candy leftovers from Valentine’s Day, it’s time to shop for your Easter stash. Whether or not you celebrate the Easter holiday, it’s always a good excuse to eat a giant chocolate rabbit all by yourself without getting weird looks. But forget that generic bunny-shaped chocolate, you have plenty of other, more interesting Easter-themed candy to look forward to this year. Here are the most unusual delicious Easter candies out there that you may or may not want to add to your basket.

1. Peeps Pancakes & Syrup Flavored Marshmallow Chicks

A candy made to taste like our favorite lazy-Sunday breakfast? We’ll add that to our shopping cart. We have our reservations about how a marshmallow-based candy is made to taste like pancakes and maple syrup, but we’re told that this Peeps variety will remind you of good ol‘ Aunt Jemima. You can buy these on Amazon.

2.White Chocolate Marshmallow M&M’s

M&M’s is rolling out a new flavor for the Easter holiday this year — white chocolate marshmallow! A packet of these pastel pink, baby blue and white M&M’s is sure to get you in the Easter mood and we have to admit that the combo of white chocolate and marshmallow does sound delicious (although a little on the sweet side for our tastes). People who have tasted these M&M’s warn that the white chocolate flavor overpowers the marshmallow, but we’re not sure that’s a bad thing. You can buy these babies at Target, both online and in-store.

3. Sour Patch Kids Marshmallows

Instead of the sticky, chewy texture of the typical Sour Patch Kids candy, you can expect a pillowy marshmallow consistency from this Easter variation. Sour Patch Kids Marshmallows can be found at your local Walmart or online in four unique flavors: redberry, lime, blue raspberry and orange. Not sure how we feel about sweet-and-sour marshmallows, but we’re willing to give these a try.

4. Easter Egg-Shaped Oreos

Are you more of a cookie-lover than a candy fanatic? Then you might want to try these Easter-themed Oreos. They’re just like traditional Oreos, except for the fact that they’re shaped like an Easter egg and filled with a purple crème (that tastes just like the original white one). You can snag a bag of these at Target or on Amazon.

5. Shell Smashers

Go ahead, smash a candy — and then find another candy inside. That’s what you’ll get with these Shell Smashers from Walmart. They consist of a hollow chocolate egg filled with your fave candy. You can get ones filled with fun-sized Twix, M&M’s or Snickers. Sounds like a piñata party waiting to happen.

6. Cadbury Shimmer Mini Eggs

These Easter-themed mini chocolate eggs have the milk chocolate filling and hard chocolate shell of your typical Cadbury bar, but they’re egg-shaped, pastel-colored and they shimmer — yes, you read that right. These bad boys will sparkle in your Easter bunny basket, making it even more Insta-worthy. You can find these at Target.

7. Russell Stover Cinnamon Sugar Churro Eggs

Forget about boring old hollow chocolate Easter eggs this year and try this innovative one instead. This crazy candy consists of a cinnamon and sugar churro-flavored marshmallow surrounded by an egg-shaped hard candy coating. Sounds … interesting? You can pick one up and try it for yourself at a variety of stores, including Walgreens and CVS.
