- Black Crescent has a raw bar where you can get oysters and shrimp, as well as a food menu that’s heavy on the fresh seafood: skewered market fish and octopus, coconut shrimp, and crab cakes
- The slightly Southern menu serves two things you aren’t likely to see elsewhere in New York: boiled peanuts and shrimp corn dogs
- As for the cocktails, Black Crescent specializes in well-made classics like old fashioneds, Manhattans, and gimlets, though the bar also has a sizable list of interesting beers and spirits. The bar does not take reservations

In January 2015, a devastating fire destroyed the bar, but Black Crescent finally reopened more than a year later, in February 2016 with the same great oysters and skilled cocktail service
