Weekend Edition

1. Workout of the Week: Shoulder Retraction

Work out the physical stresses of that desk job by completing a shoulder retraction exercise. Stand upright with your feet hip-width apart, shoulders down and back, and a neutral head. Bend both elbows to a 90-degree angle, keeping your triceps glued to your sides and your forearms out in front of you. Begin to move your forearms to the back of your body until both hands are parallel to your sides, squeezing your shoulder blades together throughout the entire movement. Hold the end position for five to 10 seconds. [Swirled]

2. What To Buy: Yoga Half Ball Balance Trainer With Resistance Band

Complement your upper body workout with a complete core workout at home. Increase your stability and flexibility with this lightweight half balance ball. It’s portable and comes complete with resistance bands so you can own your fit goals. Get it, gurl. [Amazon] [Overstock]

3. Life Hack Of The Day: Lost And Found Edition

Scan a room from right to left when looking for something. Your brain will pick up on it faster since it doesn’t read that way.

4. What To Watch: “Abducted In Plain Sight”

Prepare to be shocked by an unbelievable but true story of a girl who was abducted by a family friend (spoiler alert: TWICE!) and lived to tell the tale. It’s hard to imagine all of the things this man put this family through. Even the FBI agent on the case never had another case that compared to this. [Netflix]

5. What to Read: “Food: A Love Story” by Jim Gaffigan

Jim Gaffigan is one of the most recognizable comedians out there, and “Food” is basically a compilation of his stand-up about food, but in book form. From the publisher: “‘Food: A Love Story’ is an in-depth, thoroughly uninformed look at everything from health food to things that people actually enjoy eating.” [Amazon] [Barnes & Noble]

6. What To Listen To: Vacationer, “Paradise Waiting”

Looking for a mellow, happy tune to get you through the last month of winter? Vacationer’s “Paradise Waiting” will have you be-boppin’ and thinking about the warm days of summer. PS: This song is dangerously addictive. [Amazon | iTunes | Spotify]

7. R&R: Egg White Face Mask

Eggs’ superpowers go beyond the kitchen. Protein and collagen in egg whites can help improve skin’s elasticity. Whip up some whites until frothy, apply to your skin, let dry for 20 minutes and rinse. Hint: Lemon juice is a refreshing add-in. [Swirled]

8. What to Eat: Italian Omelet

Omelets are the perfect blank canvas to flex your culinary creativity. Mix in basil, spinach, cherry tomatoes and mozzarella with some eggs for an omelet bursting with Mediterranean flavor. [Swirled]

9. Dream Destination: Lugano, Switzerland

The lakeside city of Lugano is a hidden gem. Located in the Italian part of Switzerland, there are tons of ways to enjoy the natural wonders including a hike up Monte Brè or paddle boat ride around the lake before enjoying Italian-Swiss fusion cuisine. [Swirled]
